Jimmy and Me- National Wear Red Day 2009 --A short story from the heart.

This picture was taken on National Wear Red day in February of 2009. I was on my way to Macy's Stockton to support them in their Wear Red sale. February is also National Heart Month. Jimmy was my neighbor in Stockton. He is an amazing friend and was a wonderful neighbor. This picture was also taken about a month before I was going to move. I was in foreclosure after a year prior to health issues, full time job loss, and health care loss. Notice Jimmy is wearing a red wool shirt that he told me he bought at JC Penney and was wearing in honor of National Wear Red day.

Jimmy saved my life, along with God and my angels. The morning of April 16th, 2008 I had an acute myocardial infarction. I woke up and I knew something was terribly wrong. I went straight to my neighbor Jimmy's condo and rang his door bell at 4:30 a.m. Jimmy answered it and I told him I think he needed to dial 911. Within minutes after he opened the door, I lost consciousness. He and his wife Fayma brought me back to consciousness and as I awoke I could hear the sirens. I had no clue to what had happened. I had had a heart attack and peed all over my neighbors floor. NOT GOOD.

It has taken me over 2 years to complete this blog. Every time I would sit down to write this story I would cry. I had become very close to Jimmy after the heart incident. Then in less than a year I knew I was losing him as my neighbor due to the foreclosure. The day I handed my keys over to the bank, Jimmy stood on the lawn and we both cried as I drove away for good. Jimmy will always be my heart neighbor.... no matter.

Let me tell you about Jimmy. He is amazing. He is a triple bypass heart attack survivor. He is a Korean war veteran and one of the first black pilots to fly. Jimmy gave me the most beauitful Buddha medallion after my heart attack. He had brought it back from Korea. He has a framed letter and medals from the President as well. I love Jimmy. He would sit outside while I drummed during a full moon. He just told me recently that he goes out and calls my name at the full moon every month. Jimmy and I also send each other messages on the wings of the dragonfly. It is magical.

Jimmy and I still talk about that near fatal morning in 2008. We talk about it with love and gratitude. We talk about it over a nice glass of red wine! I still visit with my friend Jimmy. Matter of fact I am going to give him a call right now.

About the picture: A friend of mine put this picture in a photoshop frame and added my beautiful Goddess Quan Yin, the mother of love an compassion in Buddhism. Jimmy has a copy of this picture in a real frame. He keeps it in his living room. I am blessed.

Thanks for reading this story. It is very near to my heart.... just like Jimmy.
